Blake is a licensed massage therapist originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He found bodywork over ten years ago while looking for help with both anxiety and back pain. First, he tried yoga, and then he received a massage. Blake was astonished by how many ways the two treatments improved his quality of life. He thought it would be amazing to provide the gifts of yoga and massage to others. Before long, he became a yoga instructor, specializing in restorative yoga. Shortly after, he visited Florida for traditional Thai massage training. Feeling further inspired, Blake traveled to India in 2013 for four months, where his knowledge of yoga and massage deepened while volunteering teaching English to Tibetan refugees in exile. Not long after returning to the USA, he felt a strong calling to move to Appalachia. He found a job with a wilderness therapy program in Clayton, GA, where he taught at-risk youth how to survive in the wilderness, as well as develop emotional coping skills. His background in yoga greatly helped him in this endeavor. After three years of work in wilderness therapy, he followed his calling to increase his knowledge of bodywork by becoming a licensed massage therapist. His first position as a licensed massage therapist for four years brought him to Highlands, NC. Now, Blake is excited to join the Cashiers Spa team and continue providing world-class bodywork.
Blake strongly believes in the power of massage to heal the body, mind, and spirit on a deep level, especially after seeing how it improved his own quality of life. He is trained in many modalities, including Traditional and Table Thai, Neuromuscular therapy, Craniosacral therapy, Tibetan, Reflexology, Reiki, Prenatal, Oncology, Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Hot Stone massage. His approach to bodywork is highly intuitive; he prefers to blend techniques from various modalities in ways that best suit his client. He loves practicing the art of bodywork and seeing how it will help you live a happier and healthier life.
